Mercer County understood that re-imagining its 287-acre flood control site known as Miry Run as County park would require a rigorous and exceptionally transparent public process. Mercer County hired Simone Collins to design and facilitate the public master process for Miry Run. SC succeeded in helping the community to reach consensus for new site site improvements – which features ecological conservation measures with passive recreation activities around the central 49-acre pond. The SC plan resolved issues from a small, highly vocal group to craft a conervation strategy that disturbs only 6% of the site, while creating new habitats and enhancing existing ones.
